Introducing agent mode

Bayesian Energyon March 24, 2026

Today, we're releasing a major update that makes Convexity the best place to build, inspect, run and analyse energy system models. Our new agent-mode provides a natural language interface for working with your energy models.

Introducing agent-mode

The agent provides a low-latency way to interact with your models using natural language. It gives frontier models access to your model, executing tasks faster than the best energy systems modelling teams can do right now. In our own internal use of the Convexity agent on live client projects, we've found it both transformational and enjoyable, trusting it to conduct single- and multi-step tasks.

Convexity's agent is built on our own code, documentation and trusted knowledge-base, meaning that it largely executes the type of things a leading energy systems professional would do in its task execution.

Use cases

The agent can already perform many useful single-step tasks such as adding or removing assets, editing parameters or changing how the map looks. What has surprised us is that even with less advanced models (e.g., Claude's Haiku), the agent has been able to perform multi-step tasks with remarkable precision and speed. For example, we are able to set up entire models for countries or generate complex analysis/charts in minutes — the kind of thing that currently takes leading professionals days to complete.

Limitations

Despite the significant advance and the enormous potential, Convexity's agent is still limited in certain aspects such as in model validation and calibration. This is expected given that it is still an early-stage model with only limited context, and we are already working to address these limitations.
